Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has sent a heartfelt message to new Chelsea manager Graham Potter on Instagram.
The head coach joined the Stamford Bridge giants last week after leaving Brighton.
Potter persuaded Lamptey to join Brighton in 2020 from Chelsea, and he was instrumental in the right-back adapting quickly and becoming a regular at the club. The 21-year-old made over 50 appearances under Potter and scored one goal.
“Thank you for everything Gaffer it’s been a pleasure to work with you and also a big thank you to Billy, Bruno, Ben and Björn good luck with your next chapter,” Lamptey wrote.
Potter’s journey has taken an unusual turn, and it has become something of a fantasy for the boss.
He was appointed manager of Northern Counties outfit Leeds Carnegie a year after working with Ghana.
After three years in non-league, he moved to Sweden to take charge of Ostersund, a Swedish fourth-tier club.
There he helped them reach the top flight and even led them into the Europa League where they reached the knockout stages.
His first job in England saw him head to Swansea where he proved a roaring success and earned a shot in the Premier League with Brighton.
The 47-year-old leaves the AMEX Stadium with the Seagulls sat fourth in the Premier League after a blistering start to the season.
Now, he faces his biggest challenge yet as he looks to revive the fortunes of Chelsea who have seen their season start with a stutter.
He’s signed a long-term deal with the Blues and he will hope to implement his style quickly at Stamford Bridge.
